Computer Support Specialist

The Computer Support Specialist is primarily responsible for providing technical support to all IntraHealth-Chapel Hill staff for desktop and laptop hardware and software. He/She will serve as the secondary respondent for Helpdesk calls related to desktop and laptop hardware and software; provide user training as needed to address reported problems; assist with management and maintenance of the organization’s hardware and software inventory; install, configure, maintain and support organization-wide supported software programs; work with the ICT Manager to research, develop, administer and maintain security on individual workstations; provide support and maintenance on for LAN/WAN issues, disaster recovery systems (e.g. backups), Active Directory and business applications (e.g. Live Communication server); and support media and communications hardware and software.

Requirements include a 4-year bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related work experience or 5 years of related experience; basic computer training and at least 2-years related experience; demonstrated knowledge of software and hardware standards in use at IntraHealth, including but not limited to desktop and laptop computers, printers and scanners, Windows XP; Microsoft Office 2003, Microsoft Outlook 2003, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Norton AntiVirus, Yahoo! Instant Messenger, voice-conferencing and video-conferencing equipment, and Internet applications and protocols; experience with Helpdesk management and desktop support; familiarity with basic Networking including LAN/WAN issues, disaster recovery systems and Active Directory; ability to think logically, solve problems, pay attention to detail, bring tasks to completion, work collaboratively and cooperate with others. Preferred experience in nonprofit development assistance organizations.
