Basic Job Description:
Provide writing and editing support to the staff and management.
Duties include composing and editing documents; recording, preparation, and distribution of meeting minutes; compilation editing, and submission / distribution of various recurring reports, as required; updating and maintenance of the technical writers' acronym dictionary; other duties as assigned. Staff member works independently to complete assigned tasks. The direct supervisor assigns work, periodically checks progress, evaluates work products, and monitors workload.
Bachelorís degree in a communications field with some technical experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software products; ability and willingness to quickly learn new software products as needed. Knowledge of HTML and Web page design and maintenance. Skill in writing grammatically correct documents and in editing documents to correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and
in writing. Skilled in speaking clearly and distinctly using appropriate vocabulary and grammar. Knowledge of standard document formatting. Ability to compile information from various sources into one document of a standardized format. Skilled in researching complex technical issues and distilling them into understandable documentation. Ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion. Typing skills with good speed and accuracy. Good organizational and time management skills.
