The WebSphere Administrator is responsible for the administration and support of multiple software packages, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the company's e-commerce, knowledge management, and collaboration business strategy.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES;
Mandatory Skills: Support Websphere Application Server; Significant job experience. System testing background, knowledge of tuning and capacity planning; experience with volume testing(planning, execution, analysis of results).
Knowledge of Websphere 6.x in windows environment; accountable for the architecture, evaluation, installation, configuration, deployment, maintenance, and documentation of multiple software packages primarily running on the Windows operating system. The main software packages are:
IBM WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment V6.0
IBM WebSphere Commerce Business Edition V6.0
IBM WebSphere MQ V6.0
IBM HTTP Server V6.0
IBM DB2 V8.3
IBM Tivoli System Automation for Multiplatforms V2.1
Effectively manage the complex eBusiness architecture of high availability, load balancing, and clustering to strive for business-as-usual and 24x7 uptime
Audit the infrastructure environment and implement architectural improvements or fixes
Implement monitoring tools and proactively analyze the performance and reliability of applications, generate metrics reporting, and enforce application security
Participate in projects by providing subject matter expertise and applying industry best practices
Responder to production issues
Troubleshoot and tune to achieve optimal performance, and manage capacity
Automate tasks by developing and maintaining shell scripts
Formulate and document the backup and recovery plan, test the plan periodically, and participate in any needed recovery effort
Manage the J2EE application deployment process and assist development team with issues
Other duties as required
REQUIRED SKILLS
Familiarity with IBM family of products, with related IBM certifications highly desirable
Solid experience with the Linux operating system
Solid knowledge of multiple programming and markup languages, especially:
Java, Jacl, Jython
XML
HTML
SQL
Quick learner having excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent teamwork, organization, and customer service skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with succinct documentation ability
Working knowledge of:
Basic Internet concepts (DMZ, TCP/IP, HTTP)
Business integration architecture and messaging (SOA, MQ, JMS, SOAP, WSDL, web services)
User profile management and security (LDAP, SSO, SSL, WS-Security)
Advanced configurations for high availability, load balancing, and clustering
Multi-tier architecture and J2EE application model and technologies
Application development life cycle
JOB REQUIREMENTS
3 years of Websphere experience
3 years of Windows experience
2 years of Network experience such as NAT, DMZ, WAN, TCP/IP, HTTP
