Project Associate

The Project Associate will work to develop and revise budgets for technical activities in close coordination with Activity Leads. Monitor and track expenditures and invoices against budget and advise activity leads on spending. Verify that program expenses are charged to appropriate tracking code and budget. Develop monthly projections to determine burn rates and monitor spending. Assist technical staff in monitoring work plans, including deliverables and timelines. Perform quarterly status to ensure core work is on target in relation to Project deliverables
Research, pursue, and document cost share opportunities, work with technical staff on a quarterly basis to ensure cost share is collected. Work with consultants to obtain CV, bio-data and determine if rate can be supported by the activity budget. Liaise with contracts department to approve consultants. Issue consultant hiring letters. Review consultant expense reports and invoices ensuring accuracy and adherence to contract as well as sufficient supporting documents, prepare check requests and submit paperwork for timely payment. Provide support to Project Director and the Senior Technical Advisor. Coordinate logistics for large scale Project events and staff meetings, including international workshops. Assist in researching, writing and editing scopes of work, reports and other Project documents. Assist technical staff in researching technical documents for the preparation of research briefs for senior technical staff members. Undertake other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements include a Bachelors degree and two or more years experience in administration and management. Strong oral and written communication skills, including editing skills.
Excellent organizational skills – detail-oriented and accuracy is important. Ability to develop and monitor budgets and create tracking/monitoring systems. Proficient in Word, Excel and Power Point. Ability to work in teams, work under pressure, and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently in the implementation of specific tasks defined by the Operations Officer.
Fluency in a foreign language preferred.
