South Africa Project Director - IntraHealth International

The Project Director will be responsible for the overall planning, management and coordination of a human capacity development project in South Africa. The project will focus on analyzing and implementing strategies to successfully expand access to HIV/AIDS services by increasing the roles of different professional and para-professional health care workers in South Africa. The Project Director will provide primary in-country support in planning, supervising and managing the activities of the program within budget. The Project Director will be responsible for supervising both technical and management staff to ensure the timely delivery of project outputs and reporting.

The position requirements include: degree in medicine or nursing or Master’s degree in public health or related discipline; broad-based knowledge of HIV/AIDS programs derived from substantial experience in health programs in Southern Africa and facility in communicating that knowledge to a diverse audience; 7 years of professional clinical and/or public health experience in health programs in Southern Africa; management training and experience in HIV/AIDS programs; experience working with international donors, such as USAID, CDC, DFID; proven ability to led and manage a team and the ability to work with other cooperating agencies and regional and headquarters officers; proven ability to hire and train staff and consultants; willingness to travel at least 25% within country on project activities, with occasional international travel to participate in IntraHealth International or other meetings. This position is contingent upon receiving donor funding.
