Results & Knowledge Management Intern

The Results and Knowledge Management (RKM) Intern will assist the RKM team with a range of communications and knowledge management (KM) duties related to the Capacity Project, a five-year global project led by IntraHealth International. Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Publications: assist with outreach to disseminate new and recent publications in electronic and print forms; create new template for resource papers using InDesign; proofread and format documents; assist KM unit with research; review similar organizations’ publications and create summary report; assist with branding issues. Publications assistance will result in increased dissemination of publications and a report on similar organizations’ publications.
• Capacity Project website: help create longer articles based on news briefs and gather related images; collect fresh examples for technical expertise pages; gather images for results section; assist with more in-depth work on gathering statistics and building audience; expand country pages with additional examples (website expertise not required). Website assistance will result in enhanced sections of website with additional information and images.
• News briefs: serve as roving correspondent to help gather material; write drafts; expand some briefs into longer articles with images for Project website, bulletin board and IntraHealth website. News briefs assistance will result in finalized briefs and longer versions for related purposes.
• IntraHealth blog: assist with gathering material and writing posts related to Capacity Project work. Blog assistance will result in finalized posts for IntraHealth website.
• Staff portal: assist with posting, organizing, updating and coordinating items and pages on Microsoft SharePoint portal. Portal assistance will result in improved portal sections and pages related to Capacity Project.
• Photos: assist with photo archiving project. Photo assistance will result in an improved, more complete archival system.
• Presentations: help to edit and format PowerPoint presentations. Presentations assistance will result in enhanced presentations with proper format and branding.
Assist with other projects or duties as needed. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or be enrolled in a four-year college working toward a Bachelor’s Degree, and have previous working experience and/or advanced coursework in communications or knowledge management. Excellent references, writing skills and facility with Microsoft Office required. Background/coursework in international development or health; experience with PowerPoint, Photoshop, InDesign, SharePoint a plus. Part-time position for two to three months in Summer 2008. Approximately 20 hours per week; hours and schedule negotiable.
