External Communcations Intern

The External Communications Intern will support a variety of communications functions at IntraHealth during the Summer 2008 semester. These activities include preparing online video, fact sheets, biographies, press kit and communications materials to support project development. S/he will also work with the website manager and communications manager to maintain social networking materials, as well as research, write and edit stories from the field offices for use on the website. In addition, s/he will assist with on-going media activities and media relations including work on press releases as assigned. The intern will support the communications assistant with archiving press materials and B-roll and will attend communications meetings as appropriate.
Qualifications include background and/or experience in one or more of the following: communications, journalism, publicity and marketing. Strong online media, interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills are desirable. Some multimedia software skills required, such as Avid or FinalCut Pro. Photoshop and/or InDesign would be a plus. Preference will be given to students from schools located in North Carolina. The preferred candidate should be able to work both in team environments and independently and be able to handle confidential information with sensitivity and integrity.
The External Communications Internship is scheduled to begin May 21, 2008 and end August 2, 2008, averaging 8 hours per week with IntraHealth International in Chapel Hill, NC.
