The 2009 (10th Anniversary) Mr. & Ms. Island Fire Pageant will be on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at the Garner Historic Auditorium, Garner, NC. Ticket prices – Adults (18 – 59 yrs) - $15.00; Senior Citizens (60 yrs & up) - $10.00; College Students with ID & Children (14 – 17 yrs) - $10.00; Children (10 - 13 yrs) – $5.00; Children 9 yrs & under - free
Currently recruiting male and female contestants between the ages of 10 - 45 years who live in/around or can travel to Garner, NC.
The male and female contestants compete against each other in their respective age categories with the male and female achieving the highest scores being crowned as the winners. The competitive areas of the competition are: Introduction (30 seconds max - tell something about yourself), Caribbean Wear (typical attire for the Caribbean island/country you are representing), Talent (5 minutes max; does not have to be a Caribbean talent), Formal Wear (does not have to be a Caribbean formal wear) and Educational Forum (2 minutes max; brief speech based on research you did about the Caribbean island/country you are representing). Winners receive a cash prize, crown, trophy and sash.
Remember, you DO NOT have to be a native of the Caribbean; however, you have to have some form of exposure to the Caribbean culture via personal experience, upbringing, knowledge gained from family/friends or research.
The pageant is open to the public. You do not have to be a resident of NC to participate. There is a maximum of 6 contestants per age category. Registration deadline for contestants, entertainers and Island Fire Models is June 1, 2009.
