As one of the few decent places downtown that doesn't have a cover charge, the "Martini" is about as good as it gets in Raleigh. Whether you wish to be indoors or out, you'll likely find a place to sit except for when it's extremely crowded. Even in the winter months, one may enjoy the heated patio. The decor is hardly ostentatious but sufficiently modern and homey to draw you back again and again. When the band isn't playing it is a wonderful place to meet and mingle. They have a friendly staff on hand catering to your drink/tapas needs. I'm not sure about their drink prices compared to other area establishments, but I only drink beer and they are in line with the rest as far as that goes. Their tapas prices are a little high when you consider what you are getting. A friend of mine ordered the veggie platter and what he received was very skimpy. Food service halts after 1:00 AM, and if you wish to purchase a hot dog from a nearby vendor and bring it back to the bar (after 1:00 AM) to enjoy with drinks that you are buying from the bar, forget it. They won't allow it, which is wrong for obvious reasons. Other than that, I'd say that the BM is a winner in a city full of loser bars.
