The only thing that is really good about this sushi place is that they offer half price sushi on Tuesday and Thursday nights (after 10 or 11pm). The sushi is OK quality but there are other places that offer a lot better sushi. When you go on Tuesday/Thursday, be prepared for a long wait and it will be crowded. It is often frequented by mainly college students so just be aware, as this may not be the crowd you are looking for. The food will take a while to come out, and since they are so busy, don't count on your drinks always being full. If you are looking for sushi at a cheap price, go here. If you are looking for quality sushi, this is not the place.
True, sushi blues service could use some improvements. But their rolls are amazing. I wish they would look into expanding the building however, because it often gets crowded and there isn't much room to feel comfortable. With that, their rolls are well made and the atmosphere is pretty cool. The location of the place makes it easy to enjoy the rest of Glenwood Ave and downtown Raleigh. If don't like the high prices, rolls are half-off Tuesday and Thursday and this usually draws a young crowd.
Haven't been in a while since we knocked out two kids in 17 months but we love the place! We do drop some bills but always leave stuffed!
To be perfectly honest, there are a few spotty things about Sushi Blues, but with the things it does right it lands like gangbusters. Get the Long Islands from the bar, and then just ask the chef what he recommends and eat that.
The atmosphere is top notch and the waitresses all dress like they might love you long time for the right tip, but I've never found that to be true. On waitress had on these delicious thigh-high fishnets and a sense of humor to boot, because right after I asked how much it'd be if she threw in a happy ending, maybe let me munch on her fortune cookies, she straight up slapped me in the face and says "I don't chink so, sucka. Me no suckie, you reave. You reave now."
I LOVE THIS PLACE! Five stars. 2 thumbs up, waayyyy up. Like floating around out in outer space up. DAMN, just writing about it makes me done caught the vapors. I'm heading there right meow.
Some of the worst service and sushi in Raleigh.... try Akashi in Durham, it beats this overprices place hands down.
Go after 10 on Tuesday or Thursday. Half-price...and fun atmosphere.
This is the best sushi restaurant in Raleigh. The rolls are always amazingly wonderful, the staff is efficient and the atmosphere is blues-ey! Love the hot towels at night!
I agree, I like the feel of sushi blues and am a fan of their Big Count Bassie BUT I have had mixed feelings about service at Sushi Blues. I'm not a fan of the waitresses outfits and I find them scattered at times. I wish they would develop their lounge more and make it more comfortable and not such an afterthought.
This is a great sushi restaurant with a cool atmosphere. The staff is friendly, and it is always fun to see what kind of crazy tights the waitresses are wearing. The bartenders consistently make the best Mojitos in Raleigh, which is humorous since it’s a Cuban drink!
