Seems this place gets its fair share of crap reviews but I've been there over the past several years with colleagues after work for drinks and I have not had a bad experience. Then again...I'm not going there to eat the food or critique the service...and in defence of the critiques how hard is it to tap a beer. At the same time in defence of the establishment, if you go to a bar to eat food...expect bar food and bar service. Sooooo...I give it a thumbs up. Then again...I'm not a frequent flyer nor do I go there in the late evening. TV's are great...place is big...never over-crowded...idk...I like it.
Well,
The new Owners (7 I think) Purchased the place and within 4 months 2 of the owners (the ones that have restaurant management experience were forced out by the others leaving a gaping hole for the regulars to figure out what the hell is going on.
They now have the same old "shitty wait staff that where fired in the first place for things from stealing , tip adding and the likes of the "old" Playmakers.
The remaining dipstick owners are now trying a last ditch effort to clean up the image of the place but I think pwople are tired of a restaurant/Bar that is unstable to management/owner turnover.
The location is great but I would like to see a better scene of crowd.
Playmakers draws some VERY creepy and shady clientele.
If I ever wondered "hmmm what should I do tonight" I guarantee you the words "PLAYMAKERS" would never utter these lips.
-besides, The food is horseshit.
The waiter added to his tip on my debit card. I guess he thought I wouldn't notice, but it came up on my bank statement. I had already left cash on the table, but I guess that wasn't enough for him. The food wasn't that good, and the rest of his service was terrible.
This used to be a great place to go watch the game with lots of seating and big screens circling the interior but I just went this afternoon to watch UNC destroy VA Tech and I won't be back. I guess projectors get bad with age because all of their big screens looked like ass. They were washed out, fuzzy, and heavily tinted green and blue. The beer selection is decent, the food is just so so, but the TV's suck.
Stay home and order pizza.
Not Sleepy was correct.
However, it is my understanding that Play Makers is under new management and that the Big Screen projectors have been replaced with new upgraded models. My friends also said that they have a new menu, and that beleave it or not, the food is GOOD. I about fell over when they told me that the service was great; they got their lunch in 10 minutes.
This place SHOULD be great with the location/huge patio and interior space. maybe the new management is on to something. I will try lunch there for the first time in years this week.
