Right when you walk into Royal India Express, you are struck by the minimalist decor and waitstaff. A single waitress was the only person my girlfriend and I saw working, but she was all that was needed. The seats were a little over half-filled for this lunch hour.

We immediately began our lunch buffet. The yogurt sauce was a perfect complement to the curried chicken and rice on pita bread, and the clay-oven-baked tandoor chicken was exquisite.

The fresh fruit was a triumphant victory of Indian culture over my taste buds.

We had only water to drink, which was bracing and ice-cold. After this superb Indian feast, our total bill of $15.10 seemed quite the bargain.

If you like Indian food at all, or think you might, then I heartily recommend that you skedaddle over to Indian Express on Glenwood Avenue.
