They recently reopened under new ownership, and I am sad to say - it has proven to be for the worst.
R.I.P. to the Rockford that I knew and loved.
Great food, really great Dirty Martinis, this place has it all. One of my favorite places to take friends and visitors from out of town.
This is one of the favorite lunch spots for me and some coworkers. Excellent food! It fills up fast at lunch, so I recommend getting there early. I'm a veg, and they have lots of options.
My boyfriend and I went here for our first date...what a great choice! I love the informal attitude and ambiance but the crafty and unique soup/sandwich menu always makes me want to come back. I feel like this is the ideal first date spot that says "You are important enough for me to take you somewhere interesting , you are cool enough for me to take you to a place that doesn't have a sign, I respect you enough to give you a good meal, BUT I'm not going to pay too much to feed you." Plus, they have a full bar...so if the date goes south, you can have dinner with Jack Daniels. This place is also fun for lunch.
Good place, where my husband and I had our first date. The casual yet funky elegant atmosphere is a good place for people of all ages (and prices good, so economic levels). Try the crab cake appetizer!
I have a lot of memories from The Rockford going back to the days when Glenwood South was a lot quieter and The Rockford and The Hibernian were about the only things going on. Not much has changed in The Rockford since then except for the crowds. Most of the same staff is there although I tend to find Claire on my side of the bar rather than serving drinks. The food is still good and cheap and its always a challenge to decide between crab cake sandwich and the mission burritto. I never mind waiting for a table because the drink selection is good, the conversation is good, and I never have to wait as long as they say. This is my favorite PLACE to go in Raleigh.
