Porter's has become one of my favorite restaurants in Raleigh. The food is always good, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality of food, service, and atmosphere. The selection of beer on tap is pretty good and the sangria is a good option in the summer. Steak is a good choice along with the salmon but my favorite is the fish tacos with salad and it happens to be a cheap choice.
Update: 01/2009
I really hate to say this but I'm downgrading my review from 5 stars to 4 due to the odor in the restaurant. When we walked in last night my wife and I both looked at each other because it honestly smelled like a sewer. I thought that perhaps the smell was due to some burnt collard greens but the waitress confirmed it is indeed a problem with the pipes. She said its been a problem for a long time.

Hi, there, notsleepy! I've been reading all your restaurant reviews for Raleigh, and so far I really like everything you've said. You've inspired me to start my own account here, so that I can tell people that Thaiphoon has phenomenal food and Cafe' Carolina gave me food poisoning twice. :)
I just started working at Porter's in April of 2009, and I can happily update you with the fact that since I've been there, it only smells like the yummy food it's famous for. Come back and try us again, we'll re-earn that fifth star! I'll probably seat you, I'm the hostess named Ashley.
