A casual restaurant where we were served good food at a good price. No, it is not a "42nd Street Oyster House & Seafood Grille", however, we were very satisfied with our meal. The scallops were fresh & not watery, the flounder was broiled perfectly. Garden salad was very fresh. Waitstaff were pleasant & efficient. Restaurant & restrooms clean. We were able to have a quick meal in a very short period of time. As "Kemp's Seafood House" is close to RDU, we will certainly stop in next time we are on our way home from the airport.

Kemp's is way out. It is pricey and the food is bland. A family can get better tasting quicker service at Mayflower.
I have eaten at Kemp's at least once a month since coming to the Trinagle six years ago. The staff has always been polite and friendly, and the food, although fried "Southern style," is not heavily breaded, as it is in so many places. I have lived in Florida, where seafood is a specialty, and find Kemp's on a par with restaurants there. I usually order the house platter, which is $15.99 and lasts me three meals (with take-home)! That brings the price down to almost fast-food level. The reviews that knock Kemp's sound like they were written by illiterates (Illitevores?)
I have eaten there for years, the photos are obviously not from a seafood house as the styrofoam container has turkey, or BBQ, or something, but I didn't see ANY seafood in the picture. Food has always been great as well as the serving sizes. I wonder if the bad reviews are from a competitor or disgruntled employee!
I just wanted to say we went just before x-mas and it sucked so bad. The food was awful, and when I saw awful I mean awful. The shrimp was nasty with a horrible fish taste. The app was frozen, and then you said you had collard greens. It was from a can.Now get this salad looked like it was some Kale with dressing. The only thing that was good were the HUSH PUPPIES DONT WASTE YOUR TIME.
I think you people that do not like Kemp's should just go elsewhere
and eat . Why put the business down. Remember what goes around.
You might have a business some day ,and you will want all the customers you can get
ice tea was spilled on our table. took 15 mins for someone to wipe it up. she kept picking up my plate...grose. drove forever to get there and thats the service we got? waited so long to get food and then she is picking up my plates while she is cleaning...go back and get me a new plate.
Visited today; very different from previous experiences. Ordered a platter with some extra shrimp and oysters on the side ($2.00 each) - - but then they tried to charge $18.99 instead of 13.99 (9.99 for the platter plus $2 per side). When it was pointed out to the manager, he tried to convince us that we were wrong and to make matters worse, treated us like we were idiots! I am so angry that I may never go back there!!
I love kemps Ive been there so much they kno me isnt that sumthin
We are long time customers of Kemp's. We have followed them thru the old and new business models. The food is still fabulous. The jumbo shrimp are the best anywhere. We have to hit Kemp's before or after the beach for our favorite seafood fix.
The old timers should note that Kemp's has returned to table service for dinner. YAY.
We appreciate that Kemp's has gone to great lengths to stay in business and offer a quality product through these rough economic times.
KEMPS IS THE BEST FISH (FRY) RESTAURANT IN THE TRIANGLE!!!
As a frequent to Kemps (during both the old and new) there hasn't been a time I haven't been treated like family. Their food is incredible, reasonably priced, and i've yet to wait more than 5 minutes for food. The managers have gone out of their way to recognize us on a regular basis.
I'm laughing my rear end off at the those who heaven forbid have to wait in line for food. I mean seriously, its fried fish, not a steak and lobster dinner.
Regardless of their format Kemp's is always worth a try, so give it one!
