I was a fan until we had an issue that required some customer service. My family and were going here once or twice a month for several years. Sunday we went to see Planet of the Apes. When we were taking our seats my son tripped and spilled his popcorn. I told him not to worry and sent him to the concession thinking they would be cool and refill it for him. Not so. He returns without popcorn because they want 75 cents for the refill regardless of the accident. The movie was about to start so I just paid. When I brought it to the managers attention the next day I get a bunch of excuses, a story about how they fire employees for not charging for refills, a lecture on the high cost of running a business, and was then told that I should have "calmly and politely" requested a manager to address the issue? Not sure where all that came from or what it has to do with anything. If a kid drops his popcorn you give him another, it is that simple. If you employees aren't empowered to give out 10 cents worth of popcorn without manager intervention and approval then something is wrong. Hopefully you'll learn this before loosing hundreds of dollars worth of business over an issue that could have been resolved for less than a dollar.

If you want a refill you have to pay for it, doesn't matter what fucking happened. If your kid gets into your car and drives it into another car you have to pay for the damages to the other car. Shitty thing is your kid will most likely turn out to be a cheap ass who doesn't want to take responsibility for their actions just like you.

We showed up less than 5 minutes late to a movie showing that we already had tickets too due to an injury to my leg, and the guy wouldn't let us into the movie. The movie was still probably playing previews. How does it hurt anyone if we walk in and grab a seat real fast? people leave during movies all the time to go to the bathroom anyways. And its not my fault that I had trouble walking to the theater. This is completely inconsiderate and shouldn't be accepted in today's world. Very disappointed.

Sorry for your bad experience and your leg injury of course. Our general rule of thumb at Mission Valley Cinemas is that we attach three trailers and no commercials to our films (roughly 7 minutes). After that when you come in, or attempt to purchase a ticket for a movie that has already started we will inform you that the feature has already started and will help you make accommodations to watch it in its entirety at another show time if you do not wish to miss any of the film you are paying to see. The only exceptions to this are if the film has not sold a ticket after 15 minutes of its scheduled start time, it will not run for that set of shows. Our point of sale system will not allow us to sell a ticket 20 minutes after the scheduled start time, and due to safety concerns we will not let anyone into the building 30 minutes after the final movie starts.
If you or anyone still willing to come to our theater has a similar experience please calmly ask to speak with one of our managers and the problem should become resolved and it creates a learning opportunity for myself or another member of our floor staff. I hope you can appreciate their misguided attempt to minimize disruptions to film. You have my sympathy for your leg as someone who once broke the right tibial plateau on my knee. I hope that you have mended well and have somewhere that makes you feel welcome as you experience film as an art.

Agree 100%, customer service is definitely not their strong suit.

I agree about prices on movies and concessions. The problem I have with this theater, and they will either confirm or refute my allegation, is that they are a bunch of Liberals. It is my belief that they will not show, "I Want Your Money", at their theater. The primary reason I go to their theater is the close proximity.

I remember they had a disparaging photo and comment about Condolezza Rice in their booth. I asked them to take it down, and chided them for their hypocrisy. I am quite sure that me being black had something to do with them complying, but it was the fact that I am not a Democrat or Republican. It was distasteful and politically motivated. I am sure they won't run the movie claiming it will not make any money, but then how would they know. Are they to assume that there are no conservatives in Raleigh? It's just like a liberal to play God, but not to believe in Him.

If I remember correctly, they played, "Bowling for Columbine". I am not sure about Farenheit 9/11. I stand corrected on these as well.

If they show this movie Friday, I will no delete the comment, but rather praise them for their fairness.

Hi, sorry no one has commented sooner, I was only recently informed of this review and wanted to provide some insight as someone who works there. I honestly do not know if we are bunch of Liberals. I for one am a liberal and know that many of my coworkers are liberals some of my coworkers are conservatives, as our a large portion of our owners. As a local company we are limited, normally by the amount of prints available nationwide, in which films we can carry, and we do have a say in the movies we get our primary booking concern is customer interest level aka from the movies we get what will sell the most tickets. Bowling for Columbine was a widely distributed movie and came out at a time when interest level was high. Fahrenheit 9/11 had a high interest rate and was tracking well but had a smaller print run and we were not able to book it based on the other theaters in the area using up the slots reserved for the amount of prints available to our region. As we are not a large chain like Regal or Carmike our bargaining power is sometime limited on movie with a low print run. I do not remember the exact print run nationwide of "I Want Your Money" but I think it was less than 600 nationwide vs. the 40,000 (estimation) first run screens in the USA. When your interested in a movie, we appreciate you letting us know, and we pass it on to the general manager who will pass it on to our booking agency. One of the services we pay the booking agency for is track how well the think a movie will sell.

Not necessarily movie related but most Liberals I know including myself think that Conservatives share our best interest for our country in their heart and that competition, conversation and compromise form the best ideas and innovations.

Their was no disparaging comment about former Secretary Rice, and that only alteration to the photo (from a Time Magazine Photo Shoot) made by our staff was to cut out the eyes. It was a found object, a mask on a popsicle stick we found cleaning that we taped to the wall. It was more effective as a mask due to the eye holes being cut out. Our decorations are found objects and giant heads. The mask combined the best of both worlds. Your complaint (from 2008 I might add based on the staff member who put it up and the one who took it down) was the only one we got about it but you did the right thing by informing us it bothered you. Our joy of silly things, especially those involving public figures (we are a cinema after all) is much smaller then our desire to be a house that makes people feel welcome and I often find what one person is brave enough to complain about many others are thinking so thank you.

Thanks for being passionate about what you watch and think about to suggest a movie for us to play.

JAcob.

Mission Valley by far is the best theater in the triangle area. The ticket prices are cheap and their concession items are cheap too. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The theaters are clean and they offer beer! Not only that, they offer refills on all concession items (except nachos, beer and candy) for only $0.75 which is amazing. No other theater can compare to the service, price, and experience that Mission Valley offers. I will never go to another theater :)

This theater is GREAT! The theater has a classy feel and beer on tap. The screens are large and clean. The seating is classic theater style (not stadium), but the incline of the floor is enough that the person in front of you will not block your view. The bathrooms are clean. The smaller central lobby makes it so the bathroom, trashcans, and concession stand is not far off. It has large theaters considering the size of the building. The theaters have class curtains which are actually drawn before and after the film. Before the movie starts, the theater atmosphere of the theater is set be dim lighting, easy listening and jazz on the sound system that is at a volume that allows for pre-movie conversation. Its location close to NC State campus makes it a great place for students. The staff is young, energetic, and friendly. Did I mention they have beer at a decent price?

I completely agree with RaleighRoaming356 who explains why this theater is GREAT to a tee! I love going to the movies at Mission Valley! So much so, that I drive down all the way from Wake Forest instead of going to the theater 3 miles from my house.

This is my favorite theatre in the area! I only wish I lived closer since I recently moved to Durham. They make their popcorn fresh, which is more than most other places can say. It's rarely sold out because each of their theatre houses seat more than other places in the area. They serve good beer at reasonable prices and the other concession and ticket prices are so much lower than bigger chain theatres. The staff is very friendly and knows a lot about the movies and truly enjoy what they do. I really can't say enough good things about Mission Valley!

Perhaps the reason that they only "carry" five films at once is because they only have five screens?

This is not a bad theater in and of itself, but it's selection is lacking. It only carries 5 films at once, and the selection is not always great. To give you and idea, this is a place that carried the legendary stinker Meet the Spartans but not Rambo (which I admit to not being the hugest fan of, but still...).

This is the best place in Raleigh to see a movie. It's smaller so not a lot of people go there, and the building has character inside and out. You don't have to deal with a bunch of young kids or "others" who talk throughout the movie. Also they offer a larger variety of refreshments than most theaters, as well as candy by the pound (when they remember to resupply). : )>

I have to give it five stars for the wonderful wall mural covering the entire exterior wall facing Avent Ferry Rd. Very nice piece of art work ("Hopeline's Wall of Hope")... Worth the trip - even if you don't like the movie.

If you don't need much in a movie theater other than the movie and a seat this is the place for you. Price is next to nothing compared to larger theaters and they have bulk candy (mmm, jelly belly)! The theater is never packed making you feel like it was a personal showing! Enjoy the show!
