very good movie threater...
This theater is rarely crowded and is generall very well kept up. It may not be the most aesthetically pleasing one in the area, but we go there almost exclusively (the refillable popcorn buckets and the lack of huge crowds of noisy teens is a real plus!). We have also found the staff to be quite nice.
As with another reviewer, I, too, have been there when the theater has been a bit warm- but it was not unbearably warm so we stayed (I also have asthma and it was not triggered- but has been at other warm theaters). We did mention it to a theater staff member- once and politely. The theater did cool down considerably during the movie. At the end of the movie, I was concerned because there was a line to leave the theater! We were confused until we got to the front of the line and saw the manager handing out free passes to EVERYONE in the theater. We happened to be at a matinee- and with two kids- but the 4 passes have no restrictions and can be used for adults during night movies. We believed this was actually a bit more than was necessary (given that the temp was warm, but do-able).
Nov 13 2010: I have been going for 15 years plus.... I go to 3-4 movies every week visiting such movie threaters such as the Chelsea (Chapel Hill), Varsity (now closed), Carolina Threater (Durham), Rialto, Colony, CrossRoads, South Square, Galaxy... this movie threater is one of the better commercially (large corporation) operated movie threaters, the decor while not the most modern is very acceptable... the staff is very accommodating ad courteous... the customer base is typically well manner and professional with the rare exception (South Square has the worst and rudeiness audiences), even UNC, NCSU and Wake Forest U bring their players to this movie threater, the threater is one of the few that offers freshly popped pop corn... the drinks typically have the proper mix between carbonation and syrup... the pricing of the candy is as all the movie threaters in the RTP area (exception would be Galaxy which is reasonable) is too expensive.
My family and I visited this theater today, and I WILL NOT be going back. We considered another theater (there are several competitive theaters within 15-20 minutes of our home offering the same shows), but thought we would support our local businesses here in Morrisville. The theater was very warm when we arrived, but we thought that once the show began that it would cool down eventually. (This is not the first time that this has happened at this theater. It is either too hot or too cold.) The air never seemed to cool off, so my husband complained not just once, but twice! The door to the theater remained open throughout the entire show and I began to think that the air conditioning was broken. Nevertheless, instead of shutting the theater down like they should have, I believe the management decided to keep it open. We waited over an hour for the air to cool, considering the fact that the theater was packed. The air was so unhealthy that my oldest son, who suffers from asthma, began to wheeze and cough. I then myself went up to the box office and demanded to see the manager. The girl that called him/her to the box office said that he would be right down. I must have stood there for 5-6 minutes and then in disgust of his non-appearance, I told her I would be back at the completion of the show for a full refund. When I returned and asked once again to speak to the manager, the girl brushed me off and told me that he said to just give me a refund. I was absolutely disgusted with the customer service and the cowardess of this individual who I feel was "hiding" not just from me but from several other who were there to complain! I was then approached by another employee who offered me 4 tickets to return at another time. I refused and wanted my money back, which I was then given. It is not easy for my family to afford a day out at the movies, and we consider it a treat. This was an absolutely horrible experience, and I will not reccommend this theater to anyone in the future. On the contrary, I will recommend for those that wish to have an enjoyable experience taking their families to the movies to avoid this theater altogether!
Best popcorn in the area- fresh and made on site!!
I and My grandkids frequent this theatre.I have never,never had a problem with anything here.The staff though sometimes limited is always very friendly and courteous.I love having the theatre in my neighborhood.Thanks so much for the special on Tuesdays.Unlike the previews before me,I understand that things happen in business,but i have never had an incident that would prevent me from returning.
Last review was so wrong! I've been going to this movie theatre since I was a teen & I'm now 45. They have upgraded everything from the seats to being the only theatre in the near area w/top of the line systems for sound and clarity. I have never been to a movie that didnt start on time and Ive never been there when the AC is broken. As a matter of fact I am usually freezing (bring a jacket). My only annoyance lately is the uncleanliness of the restrooms. Maybe there's not enough staff to keep it up. One thing in common with the other writer is about the ticket taker. He will make you wait, but who wants to go into a theatre with spilled drink or popcorn all over the floor?!
THis theater is very clean and has more comfortable seats than the newer theater in Cary. Movies have always been on time. ONly problem I've had is with one ticket taker who can't keep track of when the theaters are clean, so he'll make you wait to get seated. I avoid him now and go to the other hall.
This movie theater is just fine. It's a been around a bit longer than some of the newer multiplexes, but it is still comfortable. I generally go to matinees, and I've never experienced a problem with a movie being advertised at the wrong time. Of course, I ALWAYS call to double-check with any movie in any theater that I attend. I've had many more problems with the wrong movie times at other multiplexes I've been to than this one. Parking is convenient and there's lots of it. The prices are comparable to any of the other movie houses, a tiny bit better than some. They have special price showings, senior discounts, student discounts - all in all your normal offerings. Picture quality and sound is good - I hate the advertisements before the movies, but all of them do that now - just go in later so you miss them. I have attended a couple of films that did not start right on the dot, but when I went out to remind staff that the movie hadn't started yet, they always responded politely and fast. As for the AC, if you go to an early film in the summer (they have showings before noon), it may not be cranked up enough yet, but I've never been there when it actually broke down. And later movies are always comfortable - and I'm very picky about AC.
I prefer the smaller theaters (not the multiplexes), but this one suits me for the major releases.
This is the worst run movie theater in the Morrisville area. The movie times are never accurate, the staff is slow and ill-trained, and the air conditioning breaks constantly. I will do my best to never use this theater again.
I agree with the previous review, particularly regarding the A/C. I was unfortunately there after the A/C had broken down in one of the theaters, and it smelled absolutely awful (a locker room is the best comparison) and was unbearably hot. We had to leave the theater and see a different movie, it was so intolerable. When I complained to the manager, I was told the A/C had broken earlier that day (not sure I believe that given the smell) and that I should have been warned about this issue when I purchased my tickets. I guess it didn't occur to them that maybe it was best to simply shut down that theater until the issue was resolved. Will never go back.
