This place used to be awesome. By far my favorite theater in town. In the last two years it has gone very downhill. No amount of beer they sell there now could get me drunk enough not to notice how awful that building is becoming. I fear the ceiling tiles are going to fall on me in the auditoriums. Do NOT go on a rainy day. Not to mention the staff that... Should I just blame the local high school?
Every time I go now I wonder what happened to this once magical place. I seem to notice a new manager every time I go. This probably has something to do with it.
If I do go I won't ever bring my children back. Even if they occasional do neat things for children like bring Santa out or have an inflatable park out front. Why not get back to the basics. Fix your building, especially the projectors. Seems like every time something bad happens to the film.
For everyone's info, the Raleigh Grande has just installed bar tables & chairs, lounge chairs and glass top in-tables for your comfort while waiting for big ticket movies. Yes, they still have the red padded benches along the halls and around the lobby, so seating is better then ever now!! Another step up for the Raleigh Grande!!
My sister and I go to dinner and a movie every Monday night. We usually go to the Raleigh Grande to see a first-rate movie at a first-rate theater. Most of the staff know us and are always very friendly and seem most appreciative of our patronage. The rewards card is very good and we love getting the free drinks, popcorn and tickets!! The bathrooms are ALWAYS clean and so are the actual theaters. There is plenty of parking with very good lighting, too. We have never had a bad experience at this theater. Raleigh Grande is a great theater and we love going there!! Keep up the good work, Raleigh Grande!!
I love this theater. Parking is easy and it's well lit. The staff are friendly, courteous and often say something to make you smile. The rewards card is great. What's nice about the one at the Grande is that when you get a free ticket you get to use it for that show. Other theaters give you a voucher and when you try to use it you can't use it for opening week movies. They do things to involve the audience. Once before a children's movie they had a magician doing magic tricks. I love that they serve beer now. It's just a great place.
Nice and clean and the early shows aren't crowded. So much better than any theater in Durham
I love this theatre. The only complaint I have is that the show times in the News and Observer are ALWAYS WRONG!!!!!!! If you want to see a movie here, call to confirm the showtimes or don't go.
Pros: Good, clean theater, offer hot dogs and pizza as well as the usual snacks. Cons: Concessions staff are slow, can't seem to multi-task, takes two people over 5 minutes to retreive popcorn and a drink. I have seen 3 staff members working behind the counter but only one register open and a long line of people waiting for snacks. They also have no idea how to ring up an upgrade from the free small popcorn cupon.
I find it ridiculous that no information can be found on this theater, except location. All "Movie listings" sites display showtimes and movies playing, all except Raleigh Grande. Please get up to speed and start posting to web.
i dont really know why anyone would write a review of a theater that they hadn't been to in years. they play movies there. stadium seating is nice. the sound is good. the staff of most movie theatres consists of high school kids experiencing their first job; who really pays attention to how they act? i mean how much interaction could you possibly have with the staff at a theater anyway? it's pretty simple: go there, get concessions if you want, watch your movie, and go home.
I absolutely love this theater. I have been going to this theater since it opened and saw the very first movie ever played there. The reward card actually makes sense and you know exactly when you get free stuff (which is a lot more often than at other theaters). It is really big and usually has the best selections and is generally cheaper than other theaters also. AND I like their popcorn considering I have seen them pop it fresh and always put lots of butter on it for me!
Sorry notsleepy, but you need to start attending the Raleigh Grand again. I happen to go there regularly and have NEVER seen any of the auditoriums 'full of trash' or the bathrooms even remotely close to being 'disgusting'. FYI, the popcorn is popped everyday on the premises and kept warm. But if you or someone you knew ever worked there, you would know this information. And as of the other day, a popper has been added in the center of the concession stand for people (like yourself) who don't believe the theater pops their own popcorn. If you think theater popcorn is stale, then maybe you shouldn't order any. Try the many other items on the menu, eh?
