Praise written here is well-deserved. However, please note that movie screens are very small. The experience is closer to being in a home theater than being in a commercial movie theater. On the one hand, it feels intimate. On the other hand, the lesser scale can make it difficult to become "lost" in the movie experience.
If you're tired of sitting among loud, obnoxious people who kick your chair, talk loudly to each other, and burp out loud; if you're tired of getting gouged at the concession stand; if you want to experience quality movies instead of the latest Hollywood crap, you need to go to the Chelsea. Simply the best theater in the entire Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area. Always my first choice.
Definitely the best movie theater in town with excellent movie chioces - always our first selection.
Great art-house cinema. Serves beer and wine for the show, and a coffee shop is next door for a perked up dissective conversation afterwards
Provides excellent movies, some of which cannot be viewed at the mainstream theaters in the area. Almost always at least one thought provoking and/or provocative movie showing.
Relative small with 3 viewing rooms, but clean and seemingly well managed.
Only on one occasion was there an equipment failure that made for disappointment when I was there.....it happens in the best of theaters sometimes. Money promptly refunded.
