A fun place to wine and dine in downtown Raleigh. Love the artwork and excellent service.
I eat lunch at 101 pretty regularly during the week and the staff takes good care of me. They always know what I want when I walk in the door, it is like my home away from home. The outdoor community bar top is great for afterwork as well.
What a blast my friends and I had at the Dog charity event hosted by 101. Really great to see a neighborhood bar in downtown that is so pet friendly. They really took care of us and our dogs! Real cute art work that they change out monthly. For the whole month they had art work by local rescue dogs and all the sales went to charity. Very cool set up with the small bar downstairs and the cozy upstairs lounge. Will be back again soon!
Great place for healthy food or drinks with friends. My girlfriends and I sat inside, upstairs, which is real nice, but you can also sit downstairs at the bar or at some small cafe tables. The place is very stylish and clean looking, but also pretty small. It is not overwhelming whether there is 1 person there or 20 and the staff treated us like we were regulars, even though it was our first time. We all had a sandwhich or salad and everything was presented nicely. Some had coffees while others had wine. They took good care of us and we look forward to going back once the weather is nice and we can sit outside.
Just recently had my company party in the upstairs lounge and it was excellent. Food, drinks and staff were great and would definitely go here again. Great location for lunch and a starting point for a night on the town!
I eat breakfast here about once per week and lunch occasionally. Great food and prices. Probably the cheapest lunch in Downtown.
Also a great place for meetings or dates. Love the upstairs lounge. Free internet a plus!
I can’t wait for the summer. Great corner to sit and have drinks outside and watch people walk by!
101 lounge is visually stunning, the atmosphere decent, the service, questionable and the prices steep yet somehow this place is still around after close to a year...if you like that snobby, elitist young republican crowd ...this is the place for you..if you eat food here..watch to see if they wash their hands or if youre lucky they MIGHT put gloves on..kinda grossed me out..draft beer was good though..and the place is usually pretty dead..perfect for a date or evening meeting..
It is obvious you work somewhere else that wishes it was as good as 101... Sono? Fins? Woody's? North Hills? Tool.
Young Republicans have their meetings at Busy Bee (look on facebook) and Hi-5. They used to have their meetings at Moonlight Pizza on mondays (when Moonlight was closed). 101 Lounge and Moonlight have more democratic events but I think that is related to event planning more than the choice of regulars, owners, and employees. What an odd and obviously inaccurate thing to say.
I went to 101 lounge the other day for the first time and absolutely loved it! The staff was great...and the bartender made me a wonderful martini that was her own recipe! I loved the atmosphere and the lounge upstairs...and have to say that I think the TVs are wonderful...its nice to see a place downtown that is smokefree and has awesome TVs to watch local football and basketball games! I will definitely be back...and will have to check out the breakfast for sure!!
101 Lounge looks like a smallish, modern, clean cafe when you first walk in but take the stairs just to the right of the door and enjoy a beautiful seating area with big windows over looking downtown, couches, and small tables. The coffee was good but I was disappointed that they didn't have biscuits (were on the menu) nor did they have hot tea.
But the biggest negative for me was 3 big screen TV's in the otherwise cool and trendy upstairs area. Its bad enough that every bar in town has a TV running all hours. A cafe should be about connecting with the people you came with in good conversation, not getting sucked into an infomercial with the sound off. The barista did a fine job with my drink though so I'll be back (but I'll be packing my TV-B-Gone :) )
