This is the best Irish pub in Raleigh as far as I'm concerned. Tir Na Nog's cheesy Irish theme park atmosphere and overwhelming smoke, Hibernian's overpriced poor service, and Napper Tandy's crowded bar can't compare to the true pub feel of Trali. The food is great - cornish game hen for $12 with an amazing stuffing. Their Guinness is the same price as all of the above listed establishments, and I can say with GREAT CONFIDENCE that the service is far superior to anything I've experienced at Tir Na Nog, Hibernian, or Napper Tandy's. Their waitstaff is helpful, professional, and friendly. I will continue to visit Trali nearly every week.
Not a true Irish atmosphere. For $5 I can go down to the Ale House or Wild Wing Cafe and have a couple of beers in a better atmosphere. It's all about the people you surround yourself with and after a stressful work day screaming kids eating chicken fingers, sun blaring in the windows (my date wore his sunglasses it was so bright), and celtic music that will put you to sleep don't equal the right surroundings for me.
-over priced drinks
-bad hostess
-terrible bar area (have to sit at weird tables)
- older family crowd not for young singles
Save your $ and go someplace else.
I agree that Trali does pull in the family crowd earlier in the evening...but give it a try after 9pm.
A smoke-free Irish Pub! To my delight, we were offered a completely non-smoking dining and drinking experience (even the bar!). On a whim, I popped into Trali on a Friday night...I found a busy restaurant and bar of the traditional Brier Creek (older) crowd, an ecletic menu that included some Irish favorites (corned beef), and a substanial bar menu. The cheese and red bean quesadilla was a surprisingly decent appetizer as well as the non-traditional bbq pizza special. Check out their menu for other non-irish pub items. I would definitely go back to hear the live music that began around 9pm, but I would recommend NOT sitting in the smaller dining room to the left if there is a large group...the sound really carries and was disruptive to a more intimate dining experience. One last thing...our host, who I assume was also the owner, was incredibly friendly and helpful...he also shared with us that all menu items were made fresh from scratch...even the pizza dough! Another great local spot...support our local business owners!
