I haven't been in awhile but have great memories of eating hot dogs with my grandmother at The Roast Grill. I'm going to make time and stop in asap. So glad it's still around. Definitely the best hot dog in Raleigh, NC.
ROAST GRILL HAS FANTASTIC DOGS!!! I DON'T EVEN LIKE HOT DOGS, BUT I LOVE ROAST GRILL. EVERY TIME I AM IN RALEIGH, I MAKE A SPECIAL TRIP TO EAT SOME DOGS AT THE ROAST GRILL. I JUST WISH THEY HAD COLD CHEERWINE IN GLASS BOTTLES LIKE THEY DO AT HAPS GRILL IN SALISBURY.

If you think Snoopy's or Char-Grill has good hot dogs, you're going to be blown away by The Roast Grill. Situated a half-block off Hillsborough street downtown, this place has been in business since 1940, and doing things the same way the whole time.
This place does pretty much one thing, and they do it amazingly well: southern-style, grill-blackened hot dogs. Oh yeah, you can get a Coke, a beer, or water. But don't even think about asking for ketchup, fries, cheese, or chips!
The Roast Grill is a huge disappintment, especially for all the hype. Just about anyone can make a better hotdog at home.
Dont get me wrong, ya'll have the right idea with the grill burned dogs but there is ALOT of room for improvement. First of all, a hotdog that fills the bun a bit more would be nice. I didnt know that you could even buy hotdogs the size of your pinky finger. I think the cheapest pack of generic dogs at Food Lion are better than that.
Secondly, the Chili on the dogs is mediocre, at best. C'mon, Wolf Brand canned chili has more flavor than that stuff!
Cant imagine why anyone would want to try to break the 16 or 17 hotdog eating record there... To eat 17 of those wimpy things, with 1 drink, would sink like $42.50!
WELL, IT LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE HAS DRANK THE KOOL AIDE OF ANOTHER DOG STAND. ROAST GRILL HAS GREAT DOGS, PERIOD.
Sounds like this person must work at Snoopy's or something 'cause there's no better hot dog in my opinion. That's just my opinion.....
