Oh well!!!! I attempted to go to the movies this pass Saturday and it was a ghost town..... The signs are down, the moving trucks are on site, and it seems that they have closed down..... I hadn't seen any information that they were going to close down any where.. I just went to go see Alfa Omega 2 weeks ago, and now today a ghost town. It was fun (and cheap) while it lasted..
Need to update. Granted the prices are cheaper than most, the owner can at least bring it up to the new millennium.
Overall the staff is great, the popcorn is fresh, and the place is clean.
If you have young children, please, try not to go to the theatre on weekend nights....the teenagers do not have ratings like the movies, they have rated R mouths.
This is the best kept secret in the area. This theater offers a friendly staff (which is not necessarily the case at some of the super theater complexes), delicious popcorn, and reasonable prices. The night (non matinee) prices are under $7.00, and they offer student pricing for my high school student. White Oak is now charging $9.00 for the non matinee showings!!! Their popcorn tastes stale, and the staff can be too aloof. Everytime we go to Carolina Theater, from the ticket taker to the concession stand staff, EVERYONE is genuine and nice. I always choose this theater over all of the other local theaters whether it's first run movies or bargain second run theaters. People need to go to this theater to give them a chance so that the big mega theater chains don't take over and monopolize the area with high prices.
Wish it was still a $2 theater. I'm a 5 minute walk from the theater and I shop in that shopping center almost daily and I never knew it had become a $2 theater. My wife and I were really excited when we heard that it was a $2 theater but when we went to check it out, it was no longer... It's nice to have a theater in walking distance, but I'll probably rarely go there if it's a first run theater. I'd rather go to White Oak for a nicer theater or Mission Valley for cheaper.
I was so happy when they changed their prices to $2 and became a second run (or maybe third run - not sure) movie theater like Blue Ridge. But their prices are back up and it looks like they're a first run theater now. That sucks. I think they would have had great success as a $2 theater if people actually knew about it. I always hated Blue Ridge because it's just too crowded. There is obviously a demand for this type of movie theater, and I would be willing to bet money that a "cheap theater" in the southern part of Wake County/northern part of Johnston would do VERY well. I think it just needed to be promoted more. People didn't know it had changed to $2, and by the time they figured it out, the prices went back up again. The theater is so old compared to the other Garner theater, White Oak. I have no idea how it can even compete, being a first run theater. I'd rather spend the extra money and go to White Oak. Please - become a cheap theater again! And promote it this time!
We really could use a cheaper theater like Blue Ridge. It is much more convenient to Clayton, Fuquay Varina and the southern part of Wake County. Please reconsider!
It is a nice movie theater but it is no longer 2 dollars, its now 7. not as clean as it was when it was purchased a few months ago. I would pay the extra 2 dollar to go to cary or white oak. but we did have the theater to ourselves.
Me and my husband has always went there to see movies and with the economic crisis its awesome to know that we can go on a nice date and not have to spend much! Thanks for having the 2 dollar movie theater now! Chris and krissy Conn
My husband went there last night. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the theatre and the friendliness of the staff. You can't beat this entertainment! You can see a very entertaining movie on the big screen with great sound for less money than you would pay to rent a movie. I'm glad to be close enough to take advantage of this venue. We will definitely count this on our great entertainment list!
My husband and I went to Garner Towne Square tonight for the first time. This theatre is very clean, the popcorn is delicious and the staff is very friendly! And the ticket prices can't be beat! To top it off, we were interrupted by a text from my sister in law (my phone was on vibrate so as not to bother others in the theatre ;-) stating that she had car trouble and was stranded. I stepped outside to call her back and the manager was outside and overheard my conversation. When my husband and I were walking out, the manager came up to us and asked if we had an emergency. We explained what was going on and he gave us a complimentary ticket so that we could come back. My husband and I both thought that was awesome!!! We will definitely be going back. This theatre is so much nicer than the other theatre in the area that shows older movies.
Great cheap movie theatre! My husband and I saw a commercial for the theatre's grand opening and had to check it out. We're always on the look out for an inexpensive and fun way to pass an afternoon, and this was perfect for us. The staff is friendly and the theatres are CLEAN! Great way to spend $2.00!
Where, oh where, is my favorite movie theater. My family and I have been going to this theater for years. The staff was always warm and friendly, the popcorn was great, and everything was well organized and clean. Other movie theaters are such a rip-off. This one is fair priced and comfortable. Please re-open our movie theater!!!
