I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager Ahmad.....to explain that the coupons in the southside shopper where different from the english side and the hispanic side. He told me that it had nothing to do with me. It was just to increase their sales with the hispanic population. He stated he had nothing to do the coupons and I would need to contact the owner. I asked what the owners name was and he stated "Kemp". He would not give me any additional information. In America..........regardless of your race/religion/sex we should all get the same deals! Come on "Kemp" this is America...........Isn't that why we all live here !!!!
Had dinner there with hubby, son, and inlaws and I say we all enjoyed the meal. The meal portions were good and the fish was great. Not the most clean place, to my standards, but was tolerable.
If you don't know anything about seafood and how it should taste, then go here - you will be pleased. But if you HAVE eaten some good seafood in your life and know how a good crabcake should taste or the best texture for a scallop, then skip this place. If I had a teaspoon of crabmeat in my crabcake I would be shocked Most everything is fried here -- which masks the taste of good seafood anyway. For the value, definitely not worth it. VERY disappointing!!! I will wait to visit the outer banks when I want some REAL seafood.
Have visited this restaurant many times over the years and were ALWAYS so pleased with the delicious preparation of the food. Restaurant is always clean as well as the restrooms.
However, our last visit in the Spring of 2009 was just a TOTAL disappointment!!!!
For the first time our seafood was extremely OVER cooked and almost inedible.
Our question is has there been a change in ownership/management and COOKS?
A restaurant operated on state property should be more scrutinized and have higher standards.
We unfortunately will not be patronizing this restaurant when we shop the AWESOME Farmers Market!
Sad but true.....some changes NEED to be implemented!
Yes, we are going to disagree. Sooo sad.....we always loved the seafood.
2009 seems to be a new year for the restaurant and not a good one. What happened? The seafood over the past years was always prepared correctly.
The seafood is no longer edible!
The best seafood in Raleigh. Huge portions. Family friendly. Convenient take out. Love it!
Classic Calabash! Love it! Huge portions! But don't forget to flush the arteries afterward (Exercise!).
Yummy calabash sytle seafood. This is a great place to grab lunch on a weekend when you are out shopping at the farmers market. Outdoor picnic tables are family friendly. The popcorn shrimp is very tasty.
