I had read so much bad stuff about this place, and yet my Son and his wife said that they had had a good time there. So I took a chance and 8 of us went there for two birthday dinners. IT started out okay, but the waitress didnt like me asking her to wait until we got settled. But after that it went great. The service was impeccable, the cook was friendly and very good and the food was delicious. Overall, we had a great time, and I know we will go there again..
I heard allot of bad things about Kaze, but because it was close to my home i decided to try. I took my 3 year old, a best friend and her 9 year old. And we have never been so disappointed, the hostess was very snobby and tossed the menu at me...not sociable at all, and it was clear she was more concerned about her boyfriend. The table was sticky and it looked as if the plates were not clean at all. the server came to table she was a very pretty girl but her attitude was as worst as the hostess...complaining about how her last table didnt tip her ..personally thats not my business and her approach was very turn offish.. then the manager a very charming man came to check on everything but he looked as if he had been smoking ( not cigarettes), his eyes were glossy he smelt funny and he was trying to flirt, very unprofessional. We never saw our server , our chef even looked as if he had been smoking . he was tan and didnt look asian. And i hate to say this, but his teeth were rotty and scared my 3 year old, the white chef at the other table behind us looked alot more interesting. the server returned and she clearly had been crying in the back. We will never return to kaze and i will never recommend it to anyone.
Unfortunately my 16 year old daughter was one of the 160 that has come and gone through the employment doors of Kaze. Speaking of unprofessional, in regards to the comments below, she was fired by word of mouth. Yes whoever called, and I don't believe it was the owner, called her friend, who also worked there, to inform her that they were both fired. Even though I encouraged my daughter to show up for work as scheduled since no management from Kaze informed her that she was no longer employed there, she wouldn't do it. The whole situation was very intimidating to her.
After leaving Kaze, she told me some stories that were disgusting. She said the owner was a total jerk until he was drunk, which she said was on a regular basis. Then he was nice, perverted, but nicer to be around. (oh, how comforting) This jerk put his arm around my 16 year old daughter during his public intoxication. No business owner has the right to put their arm around any employee not to mention a 16 year old girl.
Customers beware. Nobody really knows what goes on behind the scenes. I for one will never step foot in that place again or spend a dime. The way they treat people is disgusting and I hope that owner gets what he deserves and is treated the way he has treated the people coming through his revolving door.
Oh, and let's not forget to mention how she was paid below minimum wage for weeks after the rate went up.
There is nothing good to comment on about this place.
We eat at Kaze quite regularly for lunch. We find the lunch menu affordable and the service is always very good. Joe, the head waiter is always on top of things. Tried Kanki and found it VERY pricey, food lacks taste, portions are smaller and people were not friendly. We'll stick with Kaze. By the way, we sell houses for a living, know no one at the restaurant personally, so feel we can be very unbiased. The poor reviews may be from evening eating when it's packed, and I think some of the reviews sound like sour grapes from employees that've been let go for whatever reason and are unhappy about it.
In any case, I know several friends who love this place as much as we do.
I highly reccommend (Mt. Fuji Japanese Restaurant) in Fuquay Varina on
Broad Street, next to the Kroger Store!! Prices are good and the food is very good too! signed, very picky
We have been to Kaze several times and never really had a great experience. Why we went back last night is a mystery to me. They have good sushi but the service is HORRIBLE and you are so mad about that you cannot even enjoy the experience of the sushi.
Do not waste your time or money at this restaurant. We will be driving to Raleigh in the future for our Japanese Food experience.
so I have been to Kaze several times. Tonight was a topper. It was hilarious. The "cook" to the table adjoining ours was someone straight out of Johnston county, straight down to the chain wallet he had in his back pocket. His hat was too big. He was wearing jeans and boxers that we all got to see. His customers seemed to love the show and food. But it made me think, this place is not quite as nice as I thought. I'm sure I'll go there again, but WOW.
Then our table was full. We had a sushi chef as a fill in. He was wonders on the knife. He was a great chef, little sloppy, but the food was good and his personality was just nice. Perhaps he was nervous.
Oh and we had to wait for about 25 minutes for our forks. We only had napkins.
I hope that this place cleans up and improves... it would be sad to lose them.
My family and I love Japanese food and almost every asian resteraunt we have ever eaten at. KAZE was the worst experience we have ever had. We gave it another try and it was the second worst experience. Save your money and go to KOBE up the road. They are great and it is clean.
I went to Kaze last weekend with my family and friends. When I first walked in I was amazed. My friend was absolutely right, this place is beautiful. We were greeted with very friendly hostess. While we waited at the bar, our bartender Phil made this drink called " the upside down cake" and "lemon drop", they were phenomanol! 30 minutes later, we were still waiting, the restaurant was packed. So our bartender went to check with the hostess, and was told that there would be another 15 mins wait, which was fine with me because I enjoyed the bar atmosphere and talking with Phil. He was entertaining and funny. We almost forgot we have waited 45 minutes.
Finately we were seated at one of the grills. Then our server came. I believed his name was Joe. He greeted us with smile and a "welcome to Kaze". Immediatly I felt it's a top notch restaurant. It got even better as it went. Our chef put on an amazing show and our food were excellent. My son was absolutly loving it!
We ordered a lot of sushi and they were phenomanol! There was one roll called "American Idol" which I love the most. So I was curious who made the sushi, Joe told me his name was Tomo. I went to thank Tomo at the sushi bar and I found out he was from my home town Okinawa Japan. So we chatted, and I felt immediatly at home. I could not think of a place more authentic and modern at the same time like this.
The only thing that I suggest is that maybe you should go there on week days. I am so happy that we finately have a great place like this in Garner. I highly recommand this place!
ok i also used to work there it is disgusting and filthy if you take out food everyone in the back eats it they spit in your soup and salad one time the manager stuck the whole salad in his mouth and spit it back in the bowl.the sneeze also in your soup and if they dont like u or u give them an attitude or if they find a reason to not like you theyll do it so if you get some kind of disease after you eat there thats why.oh and the owner is a complete dumb a**. he dosent know anything and is always drunk. i saw him even trying to get with one of the hostesses who are UNDERAGE! hello pedafile much. the place is filthy!do not eat there for your own good. they dont even clean properly its like they dont give a you know what. this place sucksss a**. its filthy & disgusting trust me i know what goes on back there. and oh. they let there soup sit overnight for weeks be careful thats why sometimes its really salty. if i could i wouldnt give this restaurant any stars.
i think beside the owner and high prices its a fairly good place. the enviroment isnt as bad as these other reveiwer make it and overall the place is clean. just take a look for yourself is all im saying. Its pricely but not all that bad. plus its right beside the theater. Just pick a better timing then the weekends to pick your reviews, every place exspecially a newly open business & owner, plus the lack of real japanese ppl working doesnt make it the TOP NOTCH, but its also not soo bad. Ive had food their plenty of times, its always been good. & the sushi is the best! Tomo and Sukie are the best sushi chefs around. Hue ,Wayne, and Ray are the best chefs, and well the head server Joe Bryant, Lacy,Lamar, & Jessica were the best known servers.
