Good food, occasionally spotty service. I am a die-hard breakfast fan. I was excited when Flying Biscuit opened. For the most part the service is OK, some of the servers are great, some are ok, and one in particular is horrible. Honeslty if I got him again, I would ask for a different server. I understand how it is to work with people, but he consistently will forget things like bringing cream and sugar for coffee, or ketchup to the table if asked for. Also, he really comes off personality wise like he doesn't care if you are taken care of or not. For the most part though all the other servers they have are fine.

One thing I have to say is that all places prepare their food differently and you are not going to like every menu item from a every restaurant. So I say don't give up if you have went once and didn't like everything. I like the biscuits, and the fact that they serve apple butter with them, the grits are fantastic and worth going back for. Yes sometimes you get old coffee, but you can ask for them to change it out if it really is old/bad and it is an issue. I also love their french toast and the fact that they use raspberry sauce.

All in all I definitely would reccomend going here.

You got that right!

How can you recommend a place that serves cold coffee and delivers so-so service. That should not be a recommendation to visit, but to stay away.

I ate there three times. The first time the food was so-so. The second time I ordered the smoked salmon & cream cheese scambled eggs with potatoes on the side. The potatoes were saturated in salt, there was no cr cheese in the eggs. The third time, I ordered eggs benedict. I got a non-toasted english muffin topped with a greasy over-cooked fried egg, their version of Hollandise, which was oily and buttery. In the meantime, the place is crowded with patrons and two female servers are standing by the bar chatting/flirting with the male patrons. When I asked to speak to a manager about my tasteless meal, I was told "he's busy."

The service can be a little iffy sometimes and non-friendly, but that's not the usual. I don't agree at all with the negative comments about the food. The food is great. And comparing them to Carolina Cafe is ridiculous. I only go there for the wi-fi and a salad. If something is not your style, just say it's not your style. I happen to like the style of their biscuits. I think Raleigh has really needed this style of restaurant and breakfast.

Typical chain tactics. It's all about the money!

Trust me, Raleigh could do without this place. Nasty food and nasty people.

Waited in line for more than 20 minutes...then the hostess sat a 3 top, a four top, another 4 top...wait a minute...? We were here before that group..."I called your name!", Hummm?we were standing two feet from the hostess stand. My wife was ticked! "We need to see the manager please". "We will seat you right away." I don't think so!, I will never go there again. Flying B, add fan!

Tried the Flying Biscuit yesterday, everything was great! good service and the food as fine. Not sure what some of these people had, but the scrambled eggs were done just fine. I think that some of you are used to making an egg a certain way at home but remember that in a restaurant over medium means over medium, and scrambled is scrambled, not scrambled hard like you do at home and still call it scrambled, if your unsure it never hurts to ask how things are cooked. Don't let the nay sayers steer you away from a great breakfast

We went to the Flying Biscuit for brunch one Sat. after reading the reviews posted here, expecting some really great and unusual Southern food.

There were four of us and none of us enjoyed the food. The general atmosphere was colorful and charming, the waitress was hospitable and eager to please, but the food did not live up to our expectations. The only thing that was truly good where the biscuits and the cranberry/applesauce.

The Fried Green Tomatoes were greasy (an appetizer), the sandwich bread was dry, and the eggs where dry and rubbery, cooked too long (scrambled). The coffee was bitter tasting, like it had been sitting on the heating element too long, not fresh.

I had read the menu on their website and made the assumption that all the food shown on the menu was also available in Raleigh, NOT! This is apparently the Atlanta menu and just because this is a franchise, does not apparently mean all the locations serve the same food. (No meat loaf and special mashed potatoes)

In general it was over priced for what we got and we won't go back. Mediocre is an appropriate description. It's a colorful, fun, place for the younger crowd but for more experienced tastes, not the place I'll go again. Carolina Cafe and Bakery has far better food and more to offer, especially for the price!

I don't know how you can speak of "experienced tastes" and praise Carolina Cafe's food in the same sentence. Do you not realize that everything on the Carolina Cafe menu is microwaved? Next time you are over there, watch them prepare your food from the end of the counter where you pick it up. There are no stoves.

I've eaten at the Flying Biscuit around 5-7 times since it opened and I've enjoyed every experience! I can't believe some people had terrible reviews because it's so unlike my experiences eating there. I personally loved the biscuits. They are always warm and fresh, even at 8pm. The cranberry apple butter is fabulous. As for the main courses, I've eaten a number of entrees. The chicken sausage is tasty, though not my favorite. The fried-tomato BLT is also good, but the bun leaves something to be desired. I would recommend asking them to toast it. The pasta dishes are also good, though one night they ran out of bleu cheese with a bleu cheese specific pasta dish. I love love love the organic peach pancakes! So good! The moondusted potatoes are also wonderful with all that rosemary goodness. Yes, the service staff needs a little umph in the right direction, but they are far from the worst I've experienced in this town. Overall it's definitely worth a try, if not a weekly ritual.

spinnnancy. lol. can u speak proper english? i wouldnt have wanted to wait on you either if u acted in such a fashion with me either. #1 as an experienced waitiersuch as myself for the past 12 years he probably felt that he didnt need to write down the order due to the experinece he has. i havnt written down an order in a few years if that tells you anything about an experienced waiter. and over and over again i get.... you've been the best wiater we've had in a long time. lol. and i agree with some of the others its generaly polite to ask if there would be anything else that u might desire after brignng gfood. and if for some reason your server is busy its pretty often that i tell soemone if they need anything at all then dont hesitate to ask or stop me as im running around taking care of all my other tables. so spinnancy learn some english and go to ihop if your lookin for waht u speak of. lol.........

HAHAHAHAHA!! wow, I would hate to be a server for that person (spinancy). Asking if you want anything else after you've ordered is pretty standard and polite (not to mention just doing your job) and as far as writing down the order; Are you kidding me??!! Maybe, just maybe, this server knows the menu well and has a descent memory (its not that difficult). Do us all a favor and stay home from now on, you obviously have no clue how to interact with people (or understand them). Anyways, Flying Biscuit is a GREAT place to eat. Good atmosphere, service, and food constistantly!

thank you for that. props to you for callin out spinancy. i certainly wouldnt want to wait on her/him lol.

I had read so many reviews some good some bad, thought I'd give it a go. Disgusting. I would have to agree with most of the bad comments on here. Service was bad (not friendly, no smiles, hard to catch when we needed something) and if you are going to call yourself the "Flying Biscuit" you better be able to serve a delicious and next to perfect biscuit. Sadly, a lump of flour is what I could compare the, uh, biscuit I was served. Skip it and go next door.
