Job Description-Qualified Mental Health Professional
Essential functions of position
v Provide an array of services; including diagnostic assessments and treatment plans, case management to specialized caseload of clients, adult and juvenile, including dual-diagnosis clients, occurring in custody and/or in the community.
v Coordinate and oversee the initial and ongoing assessment activities, initial development and ongoing revision of person centered plan; monitoring of implementation of plan.
v Coordinate with community agencies to carry out the treatment plan.
v Provide direct services as indicated in the treatment plan.
v Provide support, counseling and education to consumers to assist them in achieving their recovery goals.
v Assist consumers’ in accessing available benefits and services.
v Implement approaches that utilize and enhance consumers’ natural supports.
v Utilize motivational interviewing and provides stage appropriate interventions.
v Maintain all applicable professional, legal and ethical standards, including confidentiality, dual relations, and informed consent.
v Supervise Associate Professionals and Community Support Workers.
v Provide clinical documentation, reports, and records to meet State, Federal, Regional and departmental standards and requirements: Includes, but not limited to:
a. Clinical formulations that clearly direct treatment considerations and focus.
b. Clear documentation for diagnostic assessments
c. Clear, organized, timely progress notes
Other functions:
1. Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
2. Attend staff meetings, community agency meetings as needed.
3. Participate in skills trainings/ updates
4. Complete other assignments and tasks as directed by supervisor and/or Director.
Minimum Education and Training:
(a) an individual who holds a license, provisional license, certificate, registration or permit issued by the governing board regulating a human service profession, except a registered nurse who is licensed to practice in the State of North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing who also has four years of full-time accumulated experience in mh/dd/sa with the population served; or
(b) a graduate of a college or university with a Masters degree in a human service field and has one year of full-time, post-graduate degree accumulated mh/dd/sa experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional who has one year of full-time, post-graduate degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling; or
(c) a graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a human service field and has two years of full-time, post-bachelor’s degree accumulated mh/dd/sa experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional who has two years of full-time, post-bachelor’s degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling; or
(d) a graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a field other than human services and has four years of full-time, post bachelor’s degree accumulated mh/dd/sa experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional who has four years of full-time, post-bachelor’s degree accumulated supervised a experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling.
Other requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
